Frequently Asked Questions about the LADWP Insulation Rebate Program
What is the LADWP Attic Insulation Rebate Program?
The LADWP Attic Insulation Rebate Program is an incentive for Los Angeles homeowners to improve their home’s energy efficiency. It offers rebates of up to $0.75 per square foot for installing qualifying attic insulation, helping residents save energy, lower electric bills, and enhance comfort year-round.
How much money can I save with this rebate?
Depending on your home’s size and insulation R-value, you can save up to $374 annually on energy bills and receive rebates up to $0.75 per square foot on qualifying insulation projects completed between September 1 – December 31, 2025.
Who qualifies for the LADWP insulation rebate?
To qualify, you must be a residential LADWP customer with an active electric account or a verified property owner. Eligible property types include single-family homes, duplexes, condos, townhomes, and apartments. The insulation must be batt or roll type and meet or exceed R-19 (or R-19 if attic clearance is limited).
What kind of insulation qualifies for the rebate?
Only batt and roll insulation materials qualify for the LADWP rebate. These materials must meet a minimum R-value of 19 or higher and be installed by either a licensed contractor or the homeowner (self-install). Loose-fill or spray foam insulation types are not eligible under this program.
Why should I upgrade my attic insulation now?
This limited-time rebate offers an extra $0.25 per square foot bonus for installations completed before December 31, 2025. Energy costs continue to rise, and funds are limited — meaning homeowners who act now can maximize savings, increase home comfort, and lock in their rebates before the deadline.
Do I need a contractor to qualify for the rebate?
You can install the insulation yourself or hire a licensed attic insulation contractor like Atticare. However, self-installed projects will not be reimbursed for labor costs. Choosing a professional contractor ensures compliance with program guidelines, proper installation, and accurate documentation for your rebate application.
When is the deadline to apply?
Projects must be purchased and installed on or after September 1, 2025. Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2026 to qualify for the higher rebate rate. All other applications must be submitted within 12 months of the installation date.
Can Atticare help me apply for the rebate?
Yes! Atticare’s team specializes in LADWP rebate applications and will assist you every step of the way — ensuring your documentation, photos, and permits are correctly completed to avoid processing delays and help you receive your rebate faster.

Job Site Preparation
The team will cover floors with protective barriers in work areas as needed and set up plastic partition walls or dust-barrier tunnels where required.
⭐️ We recommend our clients to ensure that no fragile or valuable items are in the path between the front door and the attic/crawl space entrance to maintain a safe work environment.
Insulation Removal & Cleaning
Remove all existing insulation from the designated work area using a heavy-duty vacuum and garbage bags. Haul away and dispose of all work-related trash and debris. Remove and vacuum rodent waste such as droppings, nests, and related debris.
Sanitation & Decontamination
Apply OdoBan disinfectant and odor eliminator to the work area to eliminate viruses, rodent odors, pheromones, and bacteria.
⭐️ Nontoxic to people and pets.
Rodent Proofing
Seal all potential entry points using wire mesh, polyurethane foam, and cement as needed. – Identify and seal new access points as needed.
– Set 2–4 traps in the service area as necessary.
Air Sealing
We will seal all gaps and cracks around fixtures, piping, wiring, vents, etc., on the attic floor prior to insulation installation to help reduce air leaks and energy costs. This helps regulate indoor temperatures, control moisture levels, and most importantly, improve indoor air quality for a healthier living environment.
Install New Insulation
We use high-quality fiberglass insulation—made in the USA and backed by a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
This installation provides long-lasting comfort through superior thermal performance, reduced noise, and full compliance with California’s strict indoor air quality standards. It can help save up to 12 times more energy and is designed to last the lifetime of your home—without settling, absorbing moisture, or losing R-value.
⭐️ Non-combustible and resistant to moisture, mold, and pests
⭐️ Formaldehyde-free for safer indoor air
Air Duct Repair/Cleaning/Replacement (optional)
If our team recognizes any damage to your air ducts, we will bring it to your attention and will offer you the proper solution. Making sure your ducts are in good shape goes a long way to preventing energy waste and ensuring a safe indoor air quality.
Improve Ventilation (optional)
We install attic fan and whole house fan as needed to balance humidity level. High humidity in the attic can cause mold growth, damaged insulation or roof, and high energy bills.
Before & After Photos
We provide ‘Before’ and ‘after’ photos of every project upon request.
