What’s in your attic? This customer wanted an inspection because he wasn’t sure if he had enough insulation. During the inspection, we found that over the years, the insulation had lost its R value and was no longer keeping his home warm during the winter. Before installing new insulation, we need to remove all of the old insulation. We put all of the inefficient insulation in disposal bags for easy, clean removal and sanitized the attic floor. Our next step was to air seal the attic to help keep his home warm by preventing air leaks. Next, we installed R30 batt insulation on the floor and R13 insulation on one part of the wall. We finished off by putting down OSB boards to create a catwalk to the HVAC unit for easy access.
