How long has it been since you had your attic and crawlspace inspected? This customer called to replace the crawlspace insulation but also wanted to inspect the attic just to make sure everything was okay. In the crawlspace, we found rodent droppings, carcasses, and contaminated insulation. In the attic, the insulation was depleted, raising this customer’s energy bills. To help this customer, we knew we needed to work in both the attic and crawlspace. We got right to work by first prepping the home, laying down large sheets of plastic to protect the customer’s belongings. Next, we completely removed all of the old insulation in the attic then air sealed any energy leaking gaps. We finished the attic by installing R30 batt insulation. For the crawlspace, we first removed all of the dirty insulation. After vacuuming all of the rodent droppings and sanitizing the contaminated areas, we rodent proofed the crawlspace to help prevent future infestation. Finally, we air sealed the crawlspace ceiling and installed new fiberglass batt insulation. OSB boards were put down to create a storage area.
