We inspected this client’s attic and found that the existing insulation did not meet Title 24 California Building Standards of R-19 value or higher. We recommended blown-in insulation that fits tight into small crevices and around leaks, reducing drafts and increasing energy efficiency.
With a heavy-duty vacuum and removal tubes, we cleaned up the existing insulation. Our crew wore protective gear and put up plastic coverings to prevent floating particles from entering the rest of the home. All the debris left in sealed bags, following Sacramento’s health and safety codes for handling hazardous materials.
Before replacing the insulation, we treated and sanitized the area, killing bacteria that can cause musty smells. We also sealed all air leaks and rodent-proofed the attic. Our last step was filling the attic according to code with blown-in insulation.
