Vapor barriers keep extra moisture and rodents out of the crawlspace. It’s a vital measure in temperature control and also blocks water infiltration that leads to mold growth, rotting supports and sagging floors.
New insulation and a vapor barrier was the goal for this project. The crew first performed decluttering to make the installation easier. Throughout the process, we followed all hazardous material guidelines in the Los Angeles municipal health codes. New R-19 batts insulation was installed on the crawlspace ceiling, reducing the chance of outside air entering the living space.
For the vapor barrier installation, our professionals followed the manufacturer’s specifications and left adequate space around the foundation’s features according to Title 24 California building codes. We spread out the barrier, wrapped it flush to the surfaces and taped the seams with necessary overlap to ensure complete, uniform coverage.
