Inside this attic, our goal was to remove worn-out insulation and upgrade the home’s R-value to meet energy efficiency standards set by California’s Title 24 building codes. In this project, our client chose batting insulation with an R-value of 38.
Our crew began by clearing debris and using a heavy-duty vacuum to remove old insulation. We adhered to Santa Clarita’s local regulations for handling hazardous materials and sealed the old insulation in bags.
We sanitized the area to kill 99.99% of bacteria. These tiny organisms are the source of musty and old smells, and the treatment removed the lingering odors from the air. The crew also rodent-proofed by patching holes and other small entry points. Finally, brand new R-38 batts insulation was installed according to manufacturer and regulation standards.
