Completed project · Glendale, CA 91201 · November 2025
Old pink loose-fill, broken into clumps and mixed with debris, lay between the joists of this Glendale attic in November 2025. It all came out, the deck was vacuumed and sanitized, the recessed lights and seams along the framing were foamed, the gable vents were screened, and new R-38 16in batts were laid in rows under the ductwork.

The challenge
Broken-up loose-fill and gaps to seal
The old pink loose-fill had broken into clumps, with debris mixed through it and ductwork running across the top.
Recessed lights, junction boxes and seams along the framing all open onto the rooms below. With the deck cleared, the crew could seal each one before the new layer went down, working behind protective barriers laid through the work path.

The service
What the crew did, in order
Prep and protection
Protective barriers laid through the work path before any material was moved, so the rest of the house stayed clean.
Remove the old insulation
The existing insulation taken out with a heavy-duty vacuum, down to a clear, bare surface.
Clean and sanitize
Debris vacuumed from hard surfaces, then OdoBan sanitation applied to neutralize odors and bacteria.
Seal and rodent-proof
Entry points closed with wire mesh, polyurethane foam and cement, with two to four indicator traps left as a check. Gaps around fixtures, piping, wiring and vents air-sealed in the same pass.
New insulation
New R-38 16in Fiberglass Batts installed, on a clean, sealed surface rather than on top of the old layer.
The result
Cleared, sealed and rebuilt in R-38 batts
The attic finished with the old loose-fill removed, the deck vacuumed and sanitized with OdoBan, foam around the recessed lights and along the framing, wire mesh over the gable vents and around a pipe opening, two to four indicator traps left as a check, and new R-38 16in fiberglass batts under the ducts.

Questions homeowners ask
Attic work in Glendale, answered
Who replaces old loose-fill attic insulation in Glendale?
Atticare USA, as on this Glendale job: the old loose-fill came out with a heavy-duty vacuum, the deck was cleaned and sanitized, gaps were sealed, and new R-38 16in fiberglass batts went in last.
Should recessed lights be sealed before new attic insulation goes in?
Yes. The gaps around recessed lights and boxes leak conditioned air into the attic. On this job the crew foamed around each fixture on the cleared deck before laying the new batts. The order of operations explains why sealing comes before insulating.
How long is Atticare USA’s rodent-proofing warranty?
One year. The work seals entry points with wire mesh, polyurethane foam and cement, like the gable vents screened on this job, with two to four indicator traps left as a check. See how to compare rodent-proofing warranties.
Does Atticare USA offer free attic inspections in Glendale?
Yes. Inspections in Glendale and across the Los Angeles area are free, and Atticare USA can give a ballpark quote by phone first. Call 1-888-743-7243.
