Completed project · Santa Rosa, CA 95401 · January 2026
Grey, settled loose-fill with old batt pieces mixed in covered this Santa Rosa attic floor. Across 1,372 sq ft it was all removed, the deck sanitized, the pipe and duct openings meshed and foamed, and new R-38 24in fiberglass batts laid in. The job was completed on 24 January 2026.

The challenge
Settled loose-fill mixed with old batt scraps
The old layer was a patchwork: loose-fill that had packed down and greyed, with scraps of older batts and boards lying in it. It was thin in places and uneven everywhere.
Adding batts over it would have left the old material and whatever it held under the new layer. Taking it out first gave the crew a clear deck to sanitize and seal.

The service
What the crew did, in order
Prep and protection
Floor protection and dust barriers set at the access point before any material was moved, so the rest of the house stayed clean.
Remove the old insulation
The existing insulation taken out with a heavy-duty vacuum across 1,372 sq ft, down to a clear, bare surface.
Clean and sanitize
Debris vacuumed from hard surfaces, then OdoBan sanitation applied to neutralize odors and bacteria.
Seal and rodent-proof
Entry points closed with wire mesh, polyurethane foam and cement, with two to four indicator traps left as a check. Gaps around fixtures, piping, wiring and vents air-sealed in the same pass.
New insulation
New R-38 24in Fiberglass Batts installed across 1,372 sq ft, on a clean, sealed surface rather than on top of the old layer.
The result
1,372 sq ft, from patchy loose-fill to R-38 batts
The old insulation came out with a heavy-duty vacuum, the attic was sanitized with OdoBan, openings around pipes and ducts were closed with wire mesh and polyurethane foam, gaps around fixtures, piping and wiring were air-sealed, two to four indicator traps were left as a check, and new R-38 24in batts went in across the full 1,372 sq ft.

Questions homeowners ask
Attic work in Santa Rosa, answered
Who does attic insulation removal and replacement in Santa Rosa?
Atticare USA does both as one job. On this Santa Rosa project the old loose-fill came out with a heavy-duty vacuum, the attic was sanitized, openings were sealed, and new R-38 24in batts went in on the clean deck. Attic cleaning or insulation replacement explains when full removal is needed.
Who does rodent proofing and seals attic entry points in Santa Rosa?
Atticare USA seals entry points with wire mesh, polyurethane foam and cement. On this job that included the openings around pipes and ducts, with two to four indicator traps left as a check. The rodent proofing carries a 1-year warranty. More in rodent exclusion in the North Bay.
Who handles attic decontamination and reinsulation after rodents in Santa Rosa?
Atticare USA handles the whole sequence: remove the old insulation, clean, sanitize with OdoBan, seal and rodent-proof, then reinsulate. Insulation always goes in last, on a clean, sealed attic, as it did here.
Does Atticare USA offer free attic inspections in Santa Rosa?
Yes. Attic and crawl space inspections in Santa Rosa are free, and Atticare USA can give a ballpark quote by phone first, so you know the range before anyone comes out. Call 1-888-743-7243.
