Did you have your attic checked before you bought a new home? Our customer found that after he purchased his home, his attic was infested with mice. They had torn up the old insulation to create nests which ended up depleting the R value and raising his energy bills. We decided the best course of action was to first remove all of the batt insulation. Next, we vacuumed and sanitized the attic floor to get rid of odor and harmful bacteria. Then we air sealed all of the gaps using expanding foam. After, we rodent proofed the attic to prevent future infestation. Finally, we finished off by installing R-38 fiberglass insulation and recessed light covers. This is not only going to help our customer save money on their energy bills, but the new batt insulation will improve the air quality inside of the house well.
