The challenge
Stained old batts across the floor and walls
The old insulation was yellow fiberglass batts, dark-stained in places and lying loose around the ducts and lines. With the batts out, the deck underneath showed heavy staining.
The scope also covered 103 sq ft of walls inside the attic space. So the job ran in the usual order for both surfaces: remove, clean and sanitize, seal the openings, then insulate the floor and the wall bays.

Prep and protection
Protective floor barriers and dust-barrier tunnels set through the work path before any material was moved, so the rest of the house stayed clean.
Remove the old insulation
The existing insulation taken out with a heavy-duty vacuum, down to a clear, bare surface.
Clean and sanitize
Debris vacuumed from hard surfaces, then OdoBan sanitation applied to neutralize odors and bacteria.
Seal and rodent-proof
Entry points closed with wire mesh, polyurethane foam and cement, with two to four indicator traps left as a check. Gaps around fixtures, piping, wiring and vents air-sealed in the same pass.
New insulation
New R-38 24in Fiberglass Batts in the attic and R-19 16in in the walls installed, on a clean, sealed surface rather than on top of the old layer.
The result
835 sq ft of floor and 103 sq ft of walls, reinsulated
Protective floor barriers and dust-barrier tunnels went in through the work path first. The old insulation came out with a heavy-duty vacuum, rodent waste was vacuumed out, OdoBan was applied, the service area was rodent-proofed with wire mesh, polyurethane foam and cement, and gaps around fixtures, piping, wiring and vents were air-sealed. New R-38 24in fiberglass batts went in across the attic floor and R-19 16in batts in the walls, with two to four indicator traps left as a check.
