Has your AC been running more than usual this summer? When rodents enter the attic, they tend to use the insulation for nests. As they rip up your insulation, they decrease the R value and end up raising your energy bills. This customer’s insulation had lost its R value over time and was used for nests. To help this home become more energy efficient, we started by removing all of the old batt insulation. Next, we sanitized the attic floor to get rid of any harmful rodent bacteria. We then air sealed the attic floor and rodent proofed any possible entry points to help keep rodents out. After, we installed new fiberglass insulation and recessed light covers to help keep the home a more even temperature. Finally, we installed a Quiet Cool whole house fan so this customer can spend less time running their AC and save money on energy.
