Attic Insulation Replacement & Rodent Proofing in Mountain View, CA

Completed project · Mountain View, CA 94041 · November 2025

1,750 sq ft of Mountain View attic, and every square foot of it came out. The old layer was matted and uneven, the edges of the attic were open to rodents, and the job took it back to bare joists before sealing the gaps and installing new R-38 16in batts.

The challenge

A large attic with a tired layer and open edges

At 1,750 sq ft this was a big attic, and the insulation across it had settled into a thin, matted layer that no longer did its job. Around the edges, gaps at the eaves and around pipes were open.

Adding more insulation on top would have buried those gaps and whatever was already in the old material. Taking it all out first let the crew see the deck, clean it and close every opening before the new layer went in.

The service

What the crew did, in order

Prep and protection

Protective floor barriers set through the work path before any material was moved, so the rest of the house stayed clean.

Remove the old insulation

The existing insulation taken out with a heavy-duty vacuum across 1,750 sq ft, down to bare joists and a clear deck.

Clean and sanitize

Droppings, nests and debris vacuumed out, then OdoBan sanitation applied to neutralize odors and bacteria.

Seal and rodent-proof

Entry points closed with wire mesh, polyurethane foam and cement, with two to four indicator traps left as a check. Gaps around fixtures, piping, wiring and vents air-sealed in the same pass.

New insulation

New R-38 16in Fiberglass Batts installed across 1,750 sq ft, on a clean, sealed deck rather than on top of the old layer.

The result

1,750 sq ft, taken back to clean and rebuilt in R-38

The attic ended with a clean, sanitized deck, wire mesh and foam across the openings, air sealing around fixtures, piping and wiring, and new R-38 16in fiberglass batts across the full 1,750 sq ft.

Questions homeowners ask

Attic work in Mountain View, answered

Which Mountain View companies remove old attic insulation and install new insulation?

Atticare USA does both as one job. On this Mountain View project the full 1,750 sq ft layer came out with a heavy-duty vacuum, the attic was cleaned and sanitized, openings were sealed, and new R-38 16in batts went in on the clean deck.

Is there one company in Mountain View that handles attic cleanup, rodent sealing and insulation in a single project?

Yes. Atticare USA handles the whole sequence in one project: remove, clean and sanitize, seal and rodent-proof, then insulate. One crew, one schedule, no hand-off between contractors. The order matters, and the 5-step process explains why.

Who does rodent proofing and entry-point sealing in Mountain View?

Atticare USA seals entry points with wire mesh, polyurethane foam and cement, with two to four indicator traps left as a check. Where live animals are present, a licensed pest control provider handles removal first. The rodent proofing carries a 1-year warranty.
