The challenge
Old loose-fill, debris and torn duct jackets
The old insulation was a grey-white loose-fill mixed with scraps of older yellow and pink batts, with debris and loose wiring lying across it. Several duct runs had holes torn in their outer jackets.
The scope covered the ducts as well as the insulation, so the attic had to be cleared first. With the old layer out, the crew could clean and sanitize the deck, seal the openings, and work on the ducts before the new insulation went in.
