Old loose-fill packed around the ducts and trusses
The before photos show old pink loose-fill across the attic floor, with batts laid over parts of it and the old duct runs lying in the material. The job record notes moderate rodent activity, with droppings and nests to clear.
With the ducts in the scope as well, the attic had to be emptied before any of the new work went in. Clearing it to the deck gave the crew room to run the new ducts and reach the gaps that needed sealing before insulation.

Seal and rodent-proof
Entry points closed with wire mesh, polyurethane foam and cement, with two to four indicator traps left as a check. Gaps around fixtures, piping, wiring and vents air-sealed in the same pass.
Air duct replacement
Air ducts removed and replaced to code, matching the existing diameters.
New insulation
New R-38 24in Fiberglass Batts installed across 1,250 sq ft, on a clean, sealed surface rather than on top of the old layer.
